The meeting between the leaders of China and central and eastern European countries was held in Warsaw, Poland on 26 April 2012. Attending the meeting were Premier Wen Jiabao of the People's Republic of China and Prime Minister Donald Tusk of the Republic of Poland, Chairman Vjekoslav Bevanda of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic of the Republic of Croatia, Prime Minister Petr Necas of the Czech Republic, Prime Minister Andrus Ansip of the Republic of Estonia, Prime Minister Orbán Viktor of Hungary, Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis of the Republic of Latvia, Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius of the Republic of Lithuania, Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski of the Repulic of Macedonia, Prime Minister Igor Luksic of Montenegro, Prime Minister Mihai Razvan Ungureanu of Romania, Prime Minister Mirko Cvethovic of the Republic of Serbia, Prime Minister Robert Fico of the Republic of Slovakia, Prime Minister Janez Jansa of the Republic of Slovenia, Deputy Prime Minister Edmond Haxhinasto of the Republic of Albania and Deputy Prime Minister Simeon Djankov of the Republic of Bulgaria.

1. The leaders present at the high-level Warsaw meeting commended

Poland for hosting the event as well as for organizing the China-Central and Eastern European Economic Forum, similar to the event organized by Hungary in June 2011. They emphasized the role of high-level exchanges in guiding and driving the growth of international relations and expressed

readiness to continue their cooperation in a similar format in the future. The leaders welcomed the progress of the cooperation between China and the participating countries in various fields in recent years, agreeing that in a world of constant change and increasing interdependence, countries find their interests more closely entwined and should further increase exchanges and cooperation to better seize opportunities and meet challenges. A broader and deeper relationship meets the common aspiration and serves the fundamental interests of the Chinese people and the peoples of central and eastern European countries, and will help to intensify their cooperation.

2. The leaders noted that China and central and eastern European countries enjoy traditional friendship and their relationship is an important part of the overall China-Europe relations. The leaders will approach this relationship from a strategic and long-term perspective and in the spirit of mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit with a view to building a forwarding-looking, friendly partnership for common development. China reiterated its support for European integration and the measures taken by central and eastern European countries to boost sound economic growth. The central and eastern European countries welcome China's sustained, steady and fast economic growth and significant contribution to global growth.

3. All sides at the meeting acknowledged the importance of closer economic ties to promoting domestic development and regional cooperation and expressed readiness to further deepen information sharing and practical cooperation in trade, fiscal and financial fields. China indicated its readiness to take vigorous steps to support cooperation with central and eastern European countries in infrastructure construction, high and new technology, and clean energy. In order to facilitate mutual investment, all sides committed themselves to elimination trade and investment protectionism.

4.The leaders expressed their appreciation that the meeting takes place at the time of increasing overall cooperation between China and Europe, including the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and the EU.

5.All sides at the meeting recognized that people-to-people and cultural exchanges play an irreplaceable role in increasing mutual understanding and consolidating traditional friendship. Cultural festivals, exchanges of first-class art troupes, students exchanges and language teaching in each other's countries will receive support from respective governments. The leaders also agreed to enhance academic exchanges between research institutes, establish a platform for youth exchanges, encourage and support the sister city/province ties, and conduct substantive tourism cooperation.

6.The meeting afforded the opportunity for the leaders to exchange views on international issues, including peace building, global economic governance, energy security, food safety and security, climate change and sustainable development.
