SUMMARY OF VISA ISSUANCE RULES FOR TRAVELLING TO P.R.CHINA

1.  APPLYING FOR VISA

- Application from has to be filled in through the online system: http://cova.cs.mfa.gov.cn. Subsequently, it must be printed out, signed and brought together with other necessary documents (see point no. 2) to our consular office. There is no need to make an appointment for visa submission from 09.08.2023.

- Address is: Hrebendova 44/D, 811 02 Bratislava – Old Town.

- Applications for visa are accepted on TUESDAYS and THURSDAYS from 8:30 to 11:30.

- If you are applying for 1 or 2 entry visas of the following types: L (tourist), M (business), Q2 (family), G (transit), C (crew), you do not have to submit the application in person. Someone else can bring it to our office for you as applicants for 1 or 2 entry visas are exempt from fingerprinting until the end of year 2024. There is no need to bring empowerment for visa submission.

- For all other types of visas: F (exchange stays), Z (work), R (national experts), Q1/S1/S2 (family), X (student), D (for residents), as well as when applying for multi-entry visas of all types, it is necessary to attend the submissionof visa application in person, due to the need to take fingerprints.

- Visa processing

     Please bring your application materials to the Consular Department of our embassy from 8:30 to 11:30 every Tuesday and Thursday to apply. Under normal circumstances, the processing time for an ordinary visa is generally 4 working days. If necessary, with the consent of the embassy, you can apply for expedited processing (the processing time is usually 3 working days) or urgent (the processing time is usually 2 working days), and you need to pay the expedited or urgent fee.

     If there are special circumstances in the visa application, the processing time will be extended accordingly. In such cases, applicants need to wait for notification.

- Collection of visa takes place again on TUESDAYS and THURSDAYS from 8:30 to 11:30 – collection doesn´t need to be done in person, if you are not able to come in person, someone else can come to pick it up for you – just give them the confirmation of payment and the paper you received when applying for your visa. We don´t send passports with visa by standard mail!

2. List of necessary documents for submitting a visa application:

- Completed, printed out and signed by applicant (on the first and last page in the „Applicant´s signature“ section ) visa application form from the online system: http://cova.cs.mfa.gov.cn

- Passport

- Copy of passport (only page with photo)

- *Passport size photo 3,5 x 4,5 cm - it must be brought only in the case that the system did not accept your photo and in the printed version of the application you have a text under the photo that says that your photo was not qualified. In that case, you need to have your photo taken professionally and bring us 1 photo of the specified format on a pure white background. If you wear bangs, we recommend brushing your hair so that the bangs do not cover the forehead, and also if you wear thicker glasses frames, we recommend taking pictures without them.

- Depending on the type of visa, the following documents must be attached to the application:

o L visa = tourist visa

§ Detailed itinerary of your trip (cities, places, monuments... which you plan to visit during your stay).

§ Reservation of round flight tickets.

§ Confirmation of hotel reservation for the whole trip.

§ If you are visiting a friend/acquaintance/family member in China, provide an invitation letter, proof of your relationship (in case of family - marriage or birth certificate), copy of inviters passport, copy of his/her residence permit in China. If the inviter is a Chinese, then you should submit copy of his/her ID card.

§ If you stay at your inviters place during your trip, then you don´t need to submit hotel reservations. Just ask your inviter to mention it in the invitation letter and add his/her full address there.

§ Invitation letter can be send as a scanned copy of the signed letter to you by email.

§ If you have invitation letter from Chinese travel agency provide an invitation letter and copy of business license.

o M visa = business visa

§ Standard invitation letter from your business partner in China with red stamp and signature.

o Q and S visa = for family members

§ Invitation letter from the family member.

§ Proof of your relationship (birth certificate, marriage certificate)

§ Copy of a passport and residency permit in China of your inviter. If inviter is a Chinese, then then you should submit copy of his/her ID card.

o G visa = transit visa

§ Confirmation of your transit (e.g. flight/ship tickets) through China for longer period than a non-visa policy allows.

o C visa = crew visa

§ Invitation letter from your employer together with schedule of flights.

o F visa = visa for exchange or study visits and activities

§ Invitation letter from your exchange partner (e.g. university) in China with stamp and signature.

o Z visa = work visa

§ Work permit = Notification letter of foreigner’s work permit in China.

o R visa = national experts visa

§ Relevant certification in accordance with relevant regulations.

o X visa = study visa

§ Valid visa application form authorized by Chinese Ministry of Education (JW201/202 Form) and Admission Notice – in case of short term visa (no longer than 180 days stay) this letter is enough.

o D visa = visa for residents

§ The original and a copy of the Confirmation Form for Foreigner’s Permanent Residence Status.
