Chinese Embassy in Slovakia Hosts International Chinese Language Day and Opening Ceremony of 2026 Chinese Film Festival

On April 10, 2026, the International Chinese Language Day and the opening ceremony of the 2026 Chinese Film Festival were successfully held in Bratislava,Slovakia. Chinese Ambassador to Slovakia H.E. Cai Ge and representative from the Slovak Ministry of Culture delivered remarks. Nearly 200 people attended the event, including guests from the Slovak parliament, government, media, cultural sectors, as well as members of the diplomatic corps.

Ambassador Cai expressed his delight at seeing an increasing number of Slovak people fall in love with the Chinese language, noting the continuous improvement of the Chinese language education chain in Slovakia. He expressed his hope that through the cultural medium of film, the audience could experience a more vivid and dynamic China, and looked forward to a future where languages replace guns and dialogue bridges differences, creating a better world together.

The guests enjoyed Chinese poetry recitations presented in Chinese, Slovak, and English, Chinese songs performed by Slovak students, as well as the film A Tapestry of a Legendary Land.

The film festival was jointly hosted by the Chinese Embassy in Slovakia, the Slovak Ministry of Culture, and the China Film Administration. From April 11 to 12, four films — Curious Tales of a Temple, Her Story, The Sinking of the Lisbon Maru, and Great Love Dunhuang— were successfully screened in Slovakia.
