2026-04-27 14:55

On April 22, 2026, H.E. Ambassador Cai Ge, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Slovak attended the 10th anniversary celebration of the China-Slovakia Bilingual Teaching Program at Mikuláš Kováč High School. Among the attendees were the Deputy Mayor of Banská Bystrica Mr. Jakub Gajdošík and Mr. Martin Majling, Director of the Banská Bystrica Regional Education Authority, Mr. Juraj Družbacký, Chinese Director Mr Li Qingfeng and Slovak director Mr. Jakub Prokeš of the Confucius Institute in Bratislava, and Deputy Rector Mr. Štefan Stano of the Slovak University of Technology and Deputy Rector Ms. Miroslava Knapková of Matej Bel University etc.A delegation from Tianjin University led by Deputy Rector Mr. Zhang Peng also attended the event.

Ambassador Cai noted that as the first bilingual school in Slovakia and the second in Europe to offer instruction in both Chinese and the local language, and the only school in Europe that teaches all subjects in Chinese, the school's China-Slovakia bilingual program has become a model of bilateral educational cooperation and a fine example of people-to-people and cultural exchange. In January this year, the two countries signed a bilateral agreement on bilingual education, providing stronger support and guarantees for the development of bilingual teaching. He expressed the hope that students of the school would learn Chinese well and become capable talents contributing to the development of their nation and country, as well as friendly envoys who carry forward China-Slovakia friendship and promote exchanges and cooperation.

The Tianjin University delegation donated a statue of Confucius to the school, and an unveiling ceremony was held on site.
